The intelligence engine

StartSprint is not a quiz tool.

It is a behavioural decision engine. Every time a student answers a question — how fast, which wrong option they chose, whether they hesitated, whether they changed their mind — a signal is produced. StartSprint captures those signals, models them, and turns them into a single output: what the teacher or organisation should do next.

Score-only systems tell you who got it right. StartSprint tells you who thinks they got it right but didn’t — and what to do about it before it matters.

The tools available to teachers and organisations have not kept pace with what we understand about learning. Completion rates, pass/fail scores, and end-of-year results are lagging indicators. By the time they appear, the gap has already formed. StartSprint intervenes earlier — at the moment of learning — using behavioural signals that precede performance outcomes by weeks.

Five signals. Every assessment. Any sector.

01

Temporal

How long a student takes to answer — and whether that speed is consistent with their accuracy. Fast and wrong is a different problem from slow and wrong.

02

Response pattern

Which wrong answer they chose. The specific distractor reveals the specific misconception. "I don't know" is different from confident error.

03

Confidence

Whether the student thinks they understood. Overconfidence — answering fast and wrong without hesitation — is the highest-risk signal. It will not self-correct without intervention.

04

Navigation

Whether they re-read, skipped, abandoned, or returned. The shape of a student's path through an assessment reveals how secure their understanding actually is.

05

Longitudinal

Whether they still know it three weeks later. Knowledge that exists on test day but not on exam day is not learning — it is a timed performance. StartSprint tracks decay.

Who it’s for

How we think about this

The intelligence is only as good as the signal. Which is why the student experience is designed around one principle: capture everything without adding friction. No visible timers. No mid-quiz interruptions. A quiz that looks simple but is instrumenting every interaction.

The teacher sees none of the raw data — only the decisions it produces. Reteach this. Check that student. Skip this in revision. The dashboard is an action surface, not a reporting surface.

We are UK-based. We are GDPR-compliant. Student data is anonymised at capture — no names, no accounts, no persistent identifiers beyond a session. What we model is behaviour, not identity.
