Safeguarding Policy

Version 2  ·  Last updated: February 2026

StartSprint is committed to creating a safe, secure, and education-focused environment for students, teachers, and educational institutions. Safeguarding is central to the design and operation of the platform.

StartSprint recognises its responsibility to help protect children and young people who use the platform.

1Our Commitment to Safeguarding

  • Designing technology that prioritises student safety
  • Preventing misuse of the platform
  • Ensuring students are protected from harmful content
  • Preventing external contact or exploitation risks
  • Maintaining transparency with schools and educators

2Platform Design Principles

No Student Accounts Required

Students can participate in quizzes and learning activities without creating personal accounts. This reduces risks associated with identity exposure, account misuse, and user-generated personal data.

No Open Messaging or Chat

StartSprint does not provide any messaging or communication channels between users. Students cannot message teachers, other students, or communicate with external users in any form.

No Student User-Generated Content

Students cannot upload or create public content on the platform. All learning content is teacher-created or teacher-approved.

3Content Control and Moderation

Teacher-Created Educational Content

All quizzes and learning materials are created by verified teachers, approved educational contributors, or the StartSprint content team.

Teachers are responsible for ensuring content is appropriate and aligned with curriculum standards.

Content Moderation

StartSprint reserves the right to review, remove, or suspend content that violates safeguarding guidelines. Harmful or inappropriate content will be removed immediately.

4Responsible Educational Sponsorship

StartSprint does NOT allow

  • Pop-up advertisements
  • Autoplay advertisements
  • Behavioural advertising
  • Targeted advertising
  • Advertising networks

Sponsorship appears as

  • Educational banners
  • Learning partner acknowledgements
  • Sponsored educational challenges
  • Career awareness quiz topics

Sponsorship Safeguarding Rules

Sponsors are NOT permitted to collect student data, communicate directly with students, track student behaviour, or place targeted advertising.

Sponsors may only receive aggregated and anonymised engagement data. All partnerships are reviewed for alignment with educational values.

5Data Protection and Privacy

No Personal Student Data Collection

StartSprint does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, photographs, or home addresses from students. Student participation is tracked using anonymous session identifiers only.

GDPR Compliance

StartSprint complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

6Teacher Verification and Platform Governance

  • Teachers who create educational content may undergo verification checks where appropriate.
  • StartSprint administrators monitor usage patterns to ensure the system is used in accordance with safeguarding guidelines.
